Lisa Marie Presley is commemorating the 30th anniversary of her father's death by singing along with him. Elvis Presley's only child, who has released two albums of her own, will premiere the video of a posthumous duet with her dad on his classic 'In the Ghetto' Thursday night at the the 30th Anniversary Elvis Presley Tribute Concert in Memphis. Starting on Friday, it will be available for viewing here on Spinner, as well as for purchase on iTunes for a charitable cause near and dear to the Presleys.
The video, directed by Tony Kaye ('American History X'), was shot in New Orleans, and, as Presley tells Spinner, she was so touched by the lingering affects of Hurricane Katrina that she decided to make this video more than just a tribute to her dad.
"I landed there to do the video, and I looked around when I got off the plane ... It looks like Katrina happened six months ago," Presley says. "So, that's when it all fell together."
The duet -- both song and video -- will be available on iTunes for downloading, starting Friday. All proceeds will go toward the building of a Presley Place transitional housing development for underprivileged families in New Orleans.
"Families come in and live there, get their life skills together," Presley explains about the charity her family originally started in Memphis. "They get jobs and then they save their money, and about a year later, they move out when they can get back on their feet. It's something [Elvis] was very interested in, because it's kinda where he started from."

I love her duet "Don't Cry Daddy" and think this "Ghetto" is also a sweet way to honor her daddy. Way to Go!

Lisa, you're amazingly generous to do this! Not only to pay tribute to your father, but to help clean up the mess left from Katrina. Your dedication and drive to be a postive force is one to be proud of. You ROCK!!! Love ya much, Stacy

Lisa, I grew up on your dads songs and still listened to them today. I have all you CD's and I would love to see you sang songs like your dads. I think you have a beautiful voice, but I like the slow ones best, the ones that the music is mellow where I can hear your voice best. Have you ever considered during a cd of some of your dads favorites in honor of him? I would buy and I am sure others would too. I can't wait till friday to hear In the Ghetto of your dad and you. We the fans of Elvis remember him and miss him and I know your rememberance and loss is tenfold of ours. He would be so proud of you. We his fans are proud of you. God Bless you.

Lisa, I remember being about 6 or 7 year old and my bedrooms walls were covered from top to bottom in posters, mirrors and cut outs of Elvis..I loved the man to pieces..When I heard that he'd died i remember sitting at the window crying my eyes out because we had a huge thunder storm and i was worried that he wouldn't get to heaven...I'm 36 yrs old now and i still listen to his music and my children love it too...maybe not as much as i did back in the 70's ..So he still lives on all this time..God bless!! xox

What an extrodinary tribute to your father, a fallen and damaged city, and to your talent. Your music though very different from your father's, has the gift to be able to reach out and touch people just as his did and I know that this duet with him will be a powerful and stirring gift to us all. On behalf of those of us blessed to get the opportunity to receive it and for those of us still trying to pick up and rebuild a broken city that many feel should be left and forgotten..."thank you"...and don't ever stop singing.

Lisa, i think its great! You have your fathers eyes and obviously his heart. He was an awesome man, so many in the World loved him, and it was a great loss to all when he died, and so young. I remember going to see him in Madison Square Garden, NYC in the 70's. My bedroom was wallpapered of all the photos of him, your mom. You could not see my walls. Keep up the good work, follow his dreams, its people like you who can make this world a better place. Im looking forward to hearing your duet!
Thanks, Joey, NJ

having been born an raised in N.O. this is a town that suffers from people thinking that the madri gras or french quater is the city what they don't know is that 25% of all products used in the U.S. goes through there an my family has been there since 1851 we have colleges an so much that it would take five pages to list them all. I saw Elvis in N.O. in the fifties. this is great if people will take advantage of what is offered--The nana

thank you, Lisa, for doing this tribute. I am a big fan of your dad's and watched you grow up from a baby. I know he would be very proud of you and your work. I would love for you to do a whole CD of your father's music but I understand you want to do your own thing. We love you, Lisa

Well, if Celine Dion can do a duet with Elvis on national TV, why not the one person who actually has more of a right to do it. I grew up with Elvis in my home and along with many of the greats of his era, they will never be replaced by the artists of today. I am actually looking forward to hearing this duet and am pleased Lisa is involved with charities and not wasting her life as other "stars" (and I use that word very loosely) are doing. I've always said it can't be easy growing up as the daughter of Elvis.

A couple of years back, Lisa did a duet with Elvis of 'Don't cry Daddy'. I think it may have been done for the 25th anniversary and it was superb. Somebody in the audience filmed it, so the quality isn't too good, but nonetheless it brought a lump to my throat.
I look forward to 'In the Ghetto' and will be a fan till I die.
