As an absolute devoted Stones fan(seen em three times in less than 2 years) I tend to agree, BUT! The Stones are very humble when giving credit when credit is due especially to their influences. Elvis is the King and will always be. He paved the way for the Stones and there would be no Stones if there wasn't an Elvis. Like I tell this younger generation that can't believe I listen to the Stones,"You wouldn't have your music today, if you can call it music, if it weren't for the Stones." GAWD I hate the state of today's new music!!! IMO, the day Guns and Roses broke up, the music died. They were the last great rock and roll band going all the way back to Elvis and Robert Johnson before him!!! Thankfully we have access to all of the wonderful music, still!!
When Mick jagger Jagge rtalks about an original, you better listen. Elvis may hav e been the King, but I seriously doubt he could ROCK like Mick and the boys at their age. If he had any influence on their music and career then God bless his soul. I just happen to think that he only would say better about them because they truely made rock and roll not the KING.
