Sonic Youth, Karen O Sign On for Dylan Soundtrack
When it comes to soundtracking a Bob Dylan biopic, it's not likely that one would find difficulty in soliticiting participants. Such is the case with 'I'm Not Here,' the Todd Haynes-directed Dylan-inspired film. Artists including Sonic Youth, Jack Johnson, Eddie Vedder, Willie Nelson, the Hold Steady, Mark Lanegan, Stephen Malkmus, Antony and the Johnsons, Yo La Tengo, Calexico and Dylan himself, have all signed on for the reported double-album soundtrack, due this October. Expect a version of 'Highway 61 Revisited' from Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O as well, who will be backed by indie-rock supergroup the Million Dollar Bashers.
'I'm Not There,' due in theaters on Nov. 21, finds the life of the rock 'n' roll poet protrayed via six different actors: Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale, Richard Gere, Heath Ledger, Marcus Carl Franklin and Ben Whishaw.
Julianne Moore, Michelle Williams, David Cross and Charlotte Gainsbourg are also involved in the project, which Haynes has described as "weird, not a traditional narrative by any means. I bet it won't be what people expect from me ... such as something suddenly very accessible."
