June 29 2008 at 7:53 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI don't think this song should be #2 on readers' choice of best opening lines, especially topping so many other better ones(but it should be on here).
The haters should at least appreciate that it's not on this site's official list.
Also, I heard that this song was actually "weirdly feminist" from VH1's best video's of the 90s back in 1999. One line reads, "those silicon parts are made for toys", possibly meaning breasts should be real. I think the whole song means he's talking about women who don't starve themselves or alter themselves being sexier than women who do.
But yeah, great opening memorable line(which the list was about), but should've been much lower on this particular list.
Welcome to the Jungle would've been a great choice too.
(To amazingglass4U) Anything with a beat is music, and anything that is music is a song.

February 10 2008 at 3:21 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyFirst off, to all the haters it does say that the readers picked this as number 2. Not sure how they arranged the picks or what but the readers did it. Secondly, and most notably this song is what was great about the music of the 90's. Styles streched so many different directions. Each song aside from some bubble gum pop did not sound alike. There was a good share of creativity (noting though that this was also the heyday of sampling so maybe creative but not original). Just think how true some form of this song is. Maybe you don't like them real thick and juicy but you like something about a woman and this was his expression. Awesome timing with VH1 putting this in the Top 40 songs (I think) of the 90's on their show this week.
December 22 2007 at 12:37 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replywhoever is choosing these songs is picking the most skewed depictions of African-American music. This song is not great, this song is a farce. However, when any African-American song is displayed, there is much more criticism than that of the others. Let's get one thing straight, if anyone rules the music scene, it's black people. If anyone created rock n' roll, soul, jazz, blues, hip-hop (not just gangsta RAP), r&b...it's African-American artists. Give recognition where it's due.
October 28 2007 at 11:28 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyObviously dan and boly think only white girls with flat asses should be on tv. He wrote the songs in honor of curvier women of color. Before that he like most of us were sick of seeing the same thing on tv always patronizing the eurocentric way of thinking. Like it was superior.
