Great song, great opening lyrics. The whole song is full of great lyrics, including the devastating "I'm a bad boy 'cause I don't even miss her, I'm a bad boy for breakin' her heart." Classic.

I do love this song but I find it odd that Tom Petty is such a great lyricist that he actually started writing this song as a joke. Just spouting off what he thought to be funny insignificant lines to his producer. Because he played the rhythm by accident and his producer liked and told him to sing something. I guess it's true sometimes you get things write by accident.

Great opening line, but not even Petty's best. The Hard Promises album opens up with The Waiting and the line "Baby don't it feel like Heaven right now."
