If you haven't listened to his album "Graceland" then you are doing yourself a disservice. If you don't like it, then you don't like music. It has consistently made critics' "Best Albums of all time" lists and for very good reason. Simon and Garfunkel were amazing, but Paul really unleashed after the break-up.

If I wrote this, I would say this

"When I think back on all the crap I learned in MIDDLE SCHOOL, it's a wonder I can think at all."

    Middle School almost murdered me.

This should definitely be on the "outdated lyrics" list - Kodak stopped making Kodachrome film in 2009, and there's only *one* lab left in the entire world that still processes it (Dwanye's Photo in Kansas).

Kodachrome movies and photos from the 1930s show almost no deterioration or color fading. Will our DVDs, SD cards, ink-jet prints, and hard drives still be readable 70 years from now?

admittedly, one of the best. That line goes a long, long way back then as well as today. It's still true. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Thing is, nowadays, people use the simile,"like," as a verb. Also, correct spelling is a forgotten necessity. Back then, sex, drugs & of course good old rock and roll were much more important than a good catholic education. Thing is, they made damn sure we "got it." I can barely remember through that purple haze.....

well, we paid attention in highschool, got great college educations, and now own land, horses, house, stable, another stable, big hay barn, kennel dogs, indoor dogs, cats, brand new mercedes-benz, brand new toyota pickup truck, a honda suv, have no credit card balances or debts other than $140K left on the mortgage. eh, the place is worth $500K now & value goes up more every year. it pays to listen while in school.

Yes it does pay to listen in school. Too bad too few are more interested in running their bitches, etc. than learning. If you being good in sports, etc. is an option, look at Michael Vick. What an idiot!

I must say, I think it's funny that someone said he's nothing without "Garfunkle", considering he did all of the work in that duo.

Anyway, I love the lyric. And Paul Simon. =D

Well, I rather LIKE the word as a verb. I really don't know what in the world you mean, but "like" has ALWAYS been used as a verb with a meaning synonymous with "to enjoy" or "to love".
Now, if you mean the use of "like" as an "interjection" ("Well, like, I don't know, it's, like, well, you know, I just sort of, like, found the body." or "You know, he's like, 'Well, I'm going', and I'm like, 'Oh no, you're not'."), that's not really some recent occurrence. It may seem like a recent trend (largely from overuse) but it's not.

Yeah I must say that while Garfunkle was nothing without Simon it's just doesn't work the other way around. I mean Paul Simon wrote his own stuff solo and was the writer in Simon & Garfunkle. So while he did change up his style he most certainly wasn't nothing and Kodachrome is a great song but I've always loved "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover" And " Call Me Al" more I must say.

I guess some things boys learn in high school stick with them for a long time ?He learned to love his imagination in High School ?
Still in love with his sweet little imagination
and nothing can compare to any of his past lovers ? Photos ? Oh my some boys never grow up ? Makes me think of the movies American Pie and Jerry Mcquire ! All the crap he learned possibly was not only in the classroom ? We dont have to give him a hand ? He can pat his self on the back for this song and sing it too! Sure glad his photo made the list for we cant take that away from him ! Doesnt matter how its spelled out my question is did anyone learn to comprehend the true meaning of this song? not only did he sing it alone etc ! he got the idea from the love he had of photos over the real thing ? Someone should of bought the man a Coke
there is nothing like the real thing baby or have a Coke and a smile ! Looking back over this song I bet its still a bridge over troubled waters that can lay him down ? Must be the fifty photos that made him leave his lovers huh ? Just slip out the back Jack ! To Bad some men still live like elementary Jack in the Boxes and still jacking off and around They never make it past that stage still playing elementary Simon says games and all Simon is saying is he loves his photos they are like chrome wheels.. Big wheels keep on rolling rolling down the river the ship never docks or comes in they just roll with it . Maybe he should of stuck with the stuff he learned in kindergarten huh ? Like little Jack in the corner that found a plum hum , Jack and Jill or how to light a candle and jump over it for romance instead of living in a make believe world at his age and still loving his imagination
and face reality of the song he wrote and sang and the true meaning. He wrote it its amazing he can think at all ? Like we wouldnt ever comprehend the true meaning of his song maybe he didnt learn comprehension but to those of us who did? oh my? and sings about this he must really love it and looks like he married it to him hisself and his photos to bad his momma didnt take it away and make him grow up huh he may of had a different song that was real music to our ears and worthy to be praised and not on the hit list....when you paint a picture the true meaning still looks bad in black and white when the moral of the story is comprhended it doesnt paint a pretty picture in living color when its illustrated and the photo matches the words...picture the visions of what colors light up his wonderful world ? Can you picture that ?

While Paul Simon's music was never as good as when he sang it with Art Garfunkel. Art's music without Paul is almost nonexistent. Truth they were great as a pair.

Everybody loves Paul Simon, that's why it's easy to forgive him for the lyrics " Kodachrome, it gives us those nice bright colors, it gives us the greens of summer" when in fact Kodachrome was black and white film. Kodacolor was the polychromatic version.

Actually, while Kodacolor was a color negative film, Kodachrome is a color positive slide film, available since 1935. At the time of the writing of this song, it was widely appreciated by photographers for its saturated colors, especially when underexposed an f/stop or so.
