Well, I WAS there, one of those Sunset Strip teenie boppers, and I met Jim several times. He was a real sensitive guy, and at that time, was as beautiful as a greek god. But always drunk out of his mind. He used to pass out on stage at the Whisky almost every night. In between drinks he wrote some of the finest poetry of the 60's.

I don't know that I ever heard this one...probably have, and just don't remember, lol.

I love this lyric though! So insightful! SO poetic! Such a wonderful visual!

I wasn't from this era, but I can picture it when this song plays. The Doors were great artists who will be enjoyed forever by those who admire the culture of which this music came

I was born in '61 so not sure when this came out. I saw the movie with Val Kilmer - and he sang the songs himself. He was great. I did some reading on the Doors after the movie and read that Jim was indeed close to genius level, was in a few points of being able to join the group nowadays known as Mensa - don't know if they had that back in those days. It just goes to show you what drugs, alcohol and fame can to do a person. He was too young and way to smart to die like he did.

Hard to pick favorites when it comes to Jim's "gems" of enticing lyrics. My favorite is still, "Before you slip into unconsciousness, I'd like to have another kiss" very sexy stuff..

I was in the fron row of our gym, barely 4 feet away from Jim Morrison when the DOORS opened with LIGHT MY FIRE, played at our high school "TEEN CLUB" Aug. 1, 1969,Saratoga, CALIF.
YES< HE was as cute as he looks, YES< they were awesome, yes he was a partier, but I also think he must have been bipolar. I LOVE HIS Music, I can identify with his lyrics, the dude was too young to go...that's if he really IS dead. I think he's up in Oregon just traipsing around,(Ya know nobody ever confirmed if it was HIS body that was laid to rest in France...)
