Lou Reed and the Killers 'Tranquilize' Each Other on Duet

Former Velvet Underground singer Lou Reed will lend vocals to 'Tranquilize,' a new song on the Killers' forthcoming B-sides and rarities CD. "We were thrilled with being able to work with Lou Reed," Killers frontman Brandon Flowers told NME. "The song was calling for a duet and his voice was just right. The sentiment of the song is very him."
"There's a desperation to it," Flowers expounded. "It's one of our more depressing songs, but there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. It's a song that really should've been on 'Sam's Town.'"
The upcoming album will feature seemingly new material to U.S. fans as several of the B-sides are found on singles released in the U.K. The as-yet-untitled record, inspired by similar compilations released by Oasis and the Smiths, will be out later this year.
