The White Stripes Cancel Appearance at Austin City Limits
- Posted on Sep 11th 2007 4:15PM by Kim Davis

True: The White Stripes have cancelled their headlining spot at Austin City Limits this coming weekend, as well as their Stubb's BBQ show.
False: Meg White has suffered a nervous breakdown, which has rendered her unable to bring the rhythmic force that is her hot half of the Detroit rock duo.
"Meg has not suffered a nervous breakdown," a Stripes spokesperson told Spinner, despite rumors claiming otherwise. Meanwhile, ACL producer Charles Attal said earlier today that the band is unable to perform on Saturday due to "medical reasons." An official statement from the Stripes' camp is expected later today.
For those of you tracking rumors: U2 will not be filling in for the Stripes. But stand by. UPDATE: Muse will play in the Stripes' spot.

September 12 2007 at 2:02 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIf it was for reasons beyond their control then I can understand. They dont owe any of us anything. You really would be pleased if they showed up but were so distracted by other events going on in their lives that they played a horrible show?
Dont get me wrong. I am very upset and disappointed but I dont feel I can point fingers. I did purchase tickets solely to see them play. Its still going to be a fun show.
Okay, I spent all the money I had on this ticket because I wanted to see the white stripes so bad. I've bought all their albums and the least they can do is show up to the concert they promised.. this is so messed up. They must just not care and it hurts. Anxiety? Please we all have anxiety bite the bullet. I also agree that if Radiohead could take their place all would be forgiven since I'd much rather see Radiohead anyway. Espcecially since the white stipes pussied out. thanks for nothing guys.
