Fightin' Words: "Not if you were the last Dandy on earth" (Brian Jonestown Massacre)
Rarely has a manufactured rivalry grown legs as long as these. Two West Coast bands with two modest hits between them, both by the Dandy Warhols, their running feud became the subject of the documentary 'DiG!' BJM frontman Anton Newcombe once sent the members of the Dandys personalized shotgun shells. The Dandys responded by filing a restraining order.

Actually, Not if you were the last Dandy on earth was a song of admiration towards them by Matt Hollywood during a time when they were good friends. And to those of you who have not heard of them, watch DiG. You will hear some amazing stuff.

I"ll bethe first to say that BJM has a notorious reputation for having fights with somebody, including the crowd. So, the fight with Dandy Warhols, because they are on a major label should have been counted as a minor slap to the cheek compared to berating your own band members for playing the wrong notes.

The guy on the right is Anton Newcombe from The Brian Jonestown Massacre and the guy on the left is Courtney Taylor from the Dandy Warhols. I love both bands.

Just because none of you can get past Top 40 radio stations and nutswinging from MTV and haven't heard of either of these extremely talented bands doesn't mean they have no merit. It just means you need to broaden your horizons and get some taste. I'm sure you're all the same bunch of people who bought Britney Spears' new CD.
