Fire Injures Several at Austin City Limits Music Festival

Day One of the Austin City Limits Music Festival began on a rather somber note Friday, with a fire that critically injured two, and seriously wounded several others. The blaze broke out in a trailer after a propane tank exploded, before spreading to surrounding trailers and portable facilities. Pete Yorn, who was performing when the fire started, stopped his set to allow emergency personnel to access and put out the flames. Yorn resumed his performance after it was announced that the blaze was under control. See more photos of the fire after the jump.

No one's going to die from the fire. That's an exaggerated account. And while everyone was very lucky that it wasn't more serious, as with everything else with ACL festival, organizers had everything under control in record time. And the next day, no one would've even known there was a fire. ACL music festival is one of the best organized festivals around.

When I saw the pictures it made me think that they were having a competition with the "BURNING MAN" Festival that was in California, except in Texas it was the "Burning Shithouses" Festival. LOL LOL

Media has over exaggerated this story. Although the emergency is and was real. I was there working behind the scenes. Yes four were injured, two critical and one of the two has 80% of the body covered with 1st degree burns. Shock has set in and this is the real danger. Anyone who was close to this happening has concern and prayers for the worker.

I feel compelled to participate and interact with all of these other contributers;but,I just don't know from what direction to approach all of the insensitivity, stupidity, lack of understanding of the situation, failure to be relevant, and the total lack of common sense.

I was at the Pete Yorn performance when this happened and the whole thing was handled professionally and efficiently. The people in charge were "in charge" and the festival participants were super, helping to get others to quickly and calmly move to make way for the emergency crews to get through to the area affected. There was no hysteria and at no time was there any danger to the festival participants. As soon as the fire department arrived, the huge black smoke quickly turned to light grey. KUDOS to the Austin FD!!! And Pete continued his awesome performance. Prayers to those who were injured.

Sounds like the quality of trailers and their accessories is continuing to get worse.

Having had first hand experience with the media and emergency situations as an airport employee in the press department, I can truly believe that this report was exagerated way out of proportion.

You have NO idea what you are babbling about. When someone has 80% of their body burned, it is very likely they could die, there is a strong chance for infection and other complications. I was a Nurse for 25 yrs till an accident 6 yrs ago left me disabled. So if you think that NO one could die from this you sure aren't well educated about medical issues, are you? i have seen people with 60% die from burns, it depends on if they have lung damage from the smoke and fire, and then if shock set in that makes it worse by far, and whether infection sets up if this happens it is harder to save them. I read where some commented that the news exaggerated the story. It is never an exaggeration when there is a fire that burns someone bad enough to cover 80% of their body, and a total of whatfour to six people where burned/injured. The news never mentioned this,in fact there is little news here, mostly pictures. They make it seem like the pictures of the fire was more important than the story of the injured. I fail to see a story exaggerated, if anything there isn't enough said.

First I would like to say my thoughts and prayers are with all who were injured, and I pray the two that were critically burned recover. That should be EVERYONE's concern, not how much hot sauce they eat or how many asses got hot. Some of you people in these blogs are disgusting, always making fun at others pain. Have you any idea what it is like to be burned bad enough to be in critical condition? If you did you would cut the wise ass jokes! This isn't the place for them. JERKS!
To think some have to be so darn snippity. When they say several others, it can be as few as two and as many as six. So why do you have to interject that "not several others, but four". It was several others that were injured, you dummy! Look up what several others mean, your not very bright are you? This is for the following user!
7. Only four, not "several others" got injured-they were released with 1st degree burns. Two, however, did get badly injured. And all four were workers, none of the festival-goers. I live in Austin and a friend was at ACL when it happened. Interesting how it's being portrayed here.
