M.I.A. Makes Girls Go Crazy for 'Boyz'

During Day One of the inaugural two-day Treasure Island Music Fest, electronic dance artist M.I.A. signaled out specific girls in the audience and invited them onstage to get down with her while she performed the track 'Boyz' from her most recent release, 'Kala.' "I want all of you girls to get crazy!" yelled M.I.A., who led the way to crazy-ville by climbing on scaffolding, Eddie Vedder-style, at one point even balancing precariously on the rope ladder for the lighting rig.

Earlier in the set, M.I.A. proclaimed that she wanted "to get politics out of the way," ad libbing lyrics about Alcatraz in an ad hoc version of 'Bucky Done Gun.' Perfect views of the infamous but now defunct prison formed a remarkable backdrop for M.I.A.'s militantly-delivered -- if somewhat loco -- afternoon set.
