Bands for Hire: No. 12

Interested in booking the Rolling Stones to play your next bash? If enjoying a little 'Sympathy for the Devil' with all of your closest friends sounds like your kind of soiree, plan to have a few spare million in your party budget, because the Stones are a lot of things, but cheap ain't one. Find out just how much stars like Elton John, Christina Aguilera and, of course, the Stones, demand for private events.

'N Sync: $250,000

Pop heartthrobs 'N Sync performed for 300 guests at the bat mitzvah executive David Colburn threw for his daughter Rachel in 1998. Colburn reportedly said 'Bye, Bye, Bye' to $250,000 to book the group.

This whole thing makes me wonder where we are as a culture. We have so much hunger and medical needs in this country! Let alone the world. If someone could afford to hire the Stones for a one night party I would hope that they could buy a sound system and some cd and put the remaining $6,999,000 into something worthwhile. But that would never happen. It is very sad that we place these people on such a higher plain than the lowest of us.

Boy, if it wasn't for the fans...these people wouldn't be where they are now and I think it is disgusting that they charge that much for an appearance for a fan. How easy they forget where they came from!

JEEZ, IM GONNA HIRE N*SYNC FOR MY 27TH BIRTHDAY! THEY'RE A BARGAIN! 7 MILLION DOLLARS FOR A PRIVATE CONCERT IS INSANE. BUT YOU HAVE TO THINK OF IF THEY DO IT FOR CHEAP, EVERYONE WILL BE TRYING TO BOOK THEM. 7 MIL COULD FEED AND CLOTHE A LOT OF KIDS IN THIS COUNTRY. TOO BAD *MOST* CELEBRITIES SPEND THEIR MONEY ON FAST CARS, EXPENSIVE CLOTHES AND ACCESSORIES, VACATIONS AND PALATIAL HOMES. IT'S NICE TO SEE THAT SOME, LIKE ANGELINA JOLIE, WHO GIVES LIKE 1/3 OF HER INCOME, GIVE A SH*T

To have Mick sing to me personally for $7 Million is a bargain in my book! Now if I could only win the lottery to make it happen!

Hey Joe,

Karen isn't a socialist. She is a realist with a sense of compassion. Try pulling your hotel out of your alpha.

People who are successful can spend their money anyway they wany, besides, it's a fact that american millionaires and billionaires give hundreds of million to charity yearly...So the guy wants to spend 7 million for the Stones...So what does that mean ? He has to feed the population of poor ? Get a grip....And for the record, I am a democrat....So much for the democrat socialist crap..

I agree that it's ridiculous, I don't care that the rich have already donated, they evidentally didn't give enough- they can do so much more good in the world by putting the money into research- go to a concert for God's sake- and I agree with Amy that you couldn't pay ME that much to see either Keith Richards (or even Mick) that close up.

i cannot believe the prices theses people are charging their fans, without the fans, these guys are "nobody". The stones has not had a hit record in a decade.Who in the hell is nsync?Come on people, most of us work too hard to be giving these people a dime. But its your money, waste it if ya want.

who gives a crap if u like their music, paying that much cash to see them perform for five seconds is stupid as hell. i agree, the money should be used for something way moooooore important than nsync and christin aguilara, they are over payed. there is hunger, poverty, sickness, disease, and crime out there, the money should be used to help that, night celebrities who barely have any talent

Sorry, but there is no law on the books demanding that you spend your money on charitable causes. Part of living in a free society is the freedom to spend your money as you wish, no matter how ill-advised others may think it is.

Well, there's something for everyone, but I don't buy their cd's, or care to see them. It's not like their talented, their just popular.
Beyonce, pay her for a show, for what to see her fall down again! Not!!!!!!!!!
I see prostitutes are high these days, even if they call themselves hip hop artists.
You can find any have dressed want-a-be to imitate Beyonce and do a show, especially here in atlanta with all these un-talented cheap copy cats.

I can not believe these people who spend money so foolishly. Why spend millions to entertain yourself? Buy a CD.Thats why they make them.HOw can someone spend money like that when children are dying every minute, nay every second from starvation.Having to dig in the nat infested trash to try to survive only to die, days later. If they are lucky enough. But in all reality they have no luck wat so ever.God Bless Angelina Jolie and Oprah and the other kind hearted celebrities willing to lend a helping hand because that is exactly what our world needs.Everyone else, Wake up and take a look at our world. It isn't getting any better, it's getting worse.
