New York, 1996: I worked for Guitar World Magazine and I told the art director there that if you get any blues guys, please call me. Sure enough, I get a call while I was out of town and they asked me if I could photograph B.B. King. I was like, "Oh, man, I would love to!" They said it was Wednesday at 1:00. I was maybe in Washington, D.C. and I was going to Seattle, but I was going through Newark. And I had a four- or five-hour layoff. I flew to Newark and had an assistant pick me up and drive me to New York City to spend two hours with B.B. King. I was in his hotel room; I was hoping to get the big, smiley B.B. King, but he was kind of tired. I said, "All right, why don't you just close your eyes for this one." So he just closed his eyes, and as we see he's kind of hugging [his guitar] Lucille. I said, 'The heck with the smiley picture -- this is the photo right here!"

its funny how b.b. king treats his guitars like they are his girlfriend, or wife. sometimes i wish i had that kind of talent. i would love to be able to take pictures like this one.
I've always wanted to see BB KING Live but never had the chance. This to me is the greatest blues singer out there today. Though there are many great ones.
