New York, 1997: That was taken at the Tibetan Freedom Concert. I'm a huge fan of her music and of her personally. I remember her publicist or her manager coming over to me and saying, "OK, we're going to bring Bjork by, and she really doesn't have a lot of time to do this, but we wanted to do this." She's just so intense; she's just so present that she just looked into the camera -- talk about just a simple photograph that works. Her presence is so strong, you can just stare into her eyes for a long time and not get bored, even though the picture is so simple. I think I shot half a roll of film and a couple of Polaroids, and she walked away. That's what I remember about that, it was just a couple of frames, and when I got my film back I just thought, "That's beautiful, she's beautiful."

The intensity of Bjork penetrates your soul with her voice and her eyes.

So intense! She was seeing you too. Great, brave, successful attempt. Onward.
