Los Angeles, 2005: I was shooting her for an editorial job for Harp magazine, and Lucinda's not crazy about being photographed. I gave her something to hide behind a little bit. I knew that the quality of the light was really soft and beautiful, and I knew it was going to work for her. We were supposed to start earlier in the day, but she ended up showing up late. We were in this great location and there was a lot of beautiful daylight there -- then it just got dark and I remember being a little bit bummed that I was going to lose all this daylight. Then the woman whose house we were shooting at turned on the lights. All these beautiful lights came on, and I thought there was a reason we waited this long, 'cause it's really beautiful and it's really moody and it really fits Lucinda's vibe.
