Video Premiere: Jenny Owen Youngs, 'Hot In Herre'

Singer-songwriter Jenny Owen Youngs covered Nelly's 'Hot In Herre' like any cheeky, indie-folk songstress would: with a video-taped, country-tinged, igloo dance party. The video, directed by Josh Forbes (Cold War Kids, Submarines), is replete with break dancing penguins, eskimos, mountain men, Russian dancers, polar bears, Bigfoot and moose heads. "I wanted something that was neither a direct parody of the original video, nor something directly literal to the lyrical content," Youngs tells Spinner. "[Josh] came back with a setting at the opposite end of the temperature spectrum and a concept that seemed to possess exactly the appropriate amount of whimsy. After all, when making a video for a cover of 'Hot In Herre' one would probably do well not to take one's self too seriously." Mission accomplished.
