The Budos Band Invade the Interface

Eleven members strong, Staten Island, N.Y. afro-soul outfit the Budos Band unleashed an assault of booty-shakin', funky instrumental bliss when they stopped by the Interface. Armed with more gear than a high-school marching band, the clan offered up four tracks from their latest album, 'Budos Band II.'

The Budos members sat down for to talk up various topics, including Wu-Tang Clan and Amy Winehouse, and battling fellow afro-beat entourage Antibalas. "They are our friends but we'd take them in a second," baritone sax player Jared Tankel told Spinner of the latter. Guitarist and Dap-King Tommy Brenneck went on to acknowledge his hometown heroes, giving the most love to one in particular. "Inspectah Deck," he said, "because he appreciates cool music. I got to hang out with him one time and he is the coolest out of the whole crew."
