Monks Adopt Folkster's Song as Theme

While the longstanding notion that the Devil gets all the best tunes took a major hit right around the tim lil Brian Warner started cranking out his odes to Al Crowley and his Beelzebubba cronies, the Man Upstairs has finally taken a clear lead in the theme music department -- thanks to a group of Catholic monks who've adopted Sufjan Stevens as their bandleader du jour. The Franciscan Friars, who trace their lineage back to Francis of Assisi, a saint usually associated with kindness to animals and the environment, chose Stevens' 'All the Trees of the Field Will Clap Their Hands' as their October pick to click -- or, to use the term they prefer, "theme for Franciscanized World Vocation." Since Mr. Stevens has made no secret of his adherence to Christian beliefs, we're sure he's honored by the choice -- a lot more honored, at least, than he would be if Ted Nugent were to use his 'Seven Swans' as background music for a bird-slaughtering video.
