Maybe it is so blatantly written into the rider because 1.)We ALL know Willie's habits (if you don't, you can come out from under that rock now...) and therefore 2.) The power of plausible deniability makes it possible to book an infamous pot smoker who's fans are also going to turn the venue into a giant bong...actually it's more like I imagine the inside of Scooby's Mystery Machine being.... :)

It is just plain and simple courtesy to keep the facade of local laws being upheld when you're a pot smokin' troubadour with a band of merry hippie followers.

Hey, give Willie a break, the man is well into his 80's and he will give you a good 2 hour concert. And he plays and sings every song. What other artist can say and do the same?
