Janet Jackson is strict on demanding her dressing room filled with ice, but not ice that smells like fish. Apparently during a tour in 1993-1994, the singer received ice that had previously been used to chill fish. Her contracts since that incident specify, “Fresh clean, crushed or cubed ice. NO FISH ICE.”

All of you above, gave me some good laughs! Especially about the fish shaped ice cubes! Maybe someone who didn't like her, put a fish in her ice cubes?

I've had fishy tasting ice befiore, and it vcomes from an unclean ice machine. The ice makers at many restaurants and hotels are rarely emptied, and even more rarely completley sanitized, after too long of a time not being cleaned, the ice will have a funky taste.

This may be what she was referring to. It actually lends a "fish tank" aroma to a beverage if you place dirty ice in a drink.
