Flaming Lips See 'Stars' at Echo Project
- Posted on Oct 14th 2007 1:30PM by Benjy Eisen
The Flaming Lips were one of the first bands to roll into the inaugural Echo Project in
During the show -- the last stop on the Lips' "summer" tour -- Coyne told the audience that his light guy claimed he had never smelled so much pot smoke at an outdoor event before. Dedicating 'Vein of Stars' to fellow performers the Polyphonic Spree, Coyne joked that the festival's promoters wanted the audience "to smoke as much pot as possible during this next song." Laughing, he clarified: "They didn't actually say that, but wouldn't it be great if they did? It's a Flaming Lips show, so we want you to be free to do whatever you want."
Lips take note: Next time, if solar power isn't enough, try tapping into the fumes from all that pot smoke. Dude, its powerful stuff.

i LOVE the flaming lips but they seriously need to tone down the effects aspect of their shows. their music is good enough to stand alone without selling out on their beliefs to power a bunch of lights.
