Man Man Thank Modest Mouse for the Food

Philadelphia's Man Man have enjoyed a record-setting year, thanks in large part to their friends in Modest Mouse who brought the band out on tour with them, exposing them to theater-sized audiences nationwide. This past weekend, Man Man performed to a slightly different audience -- one more accustomed to lengthy jams and extended songs -- at the Echo Project, a three-day music and ecology festival in Fairburn, Ga. The band has been preparing their next album, scheduled for a March release, and they'll pick back up with Modest Mouse at the end of this month.

Immediately following their set, member Wang Chang said that he really didn't know if there was a big difference between the audiences after all. "All I know is I love pizza," he said. "And I eat it all the time." (According to the band's official website, Wang's instrument is the "quesadilla special."

Man Man multi-instrumentalist Sergei Sogay agreed about the crowd: "At both, people just kind of stare at us and don't know what the hell is going on," he said, adding that the most surprising aspect of touring for so long with Modest Mouse has been the food. "Lots of food."

That could be good news for Chang and his hipster-thin bandmates.
