    Craziest Costumed Acts: No. 17

    Buckethead

Born Brian Carroll, this onetime Guns N' Roses guitarist's stage outfit is exactly what it sounds like -- a chicken bucket worn atop his head. Combine that with a white mask and you've got his costume down. The avant-garde metal maestro claims he was raised in a chicken coop and is a fan of horror movies. In fact, Michael Myers in 'Halloween IV' inspired the creepy white mask. Only one known photo exists of the Nunchuck-wielding guitarist sans costume.

Buckethead released like 5 records since he was in guns and roses and toured the u.s. twice since he left the band. sounds like a better decision to me.

guns n roses was the worst decision he ever made as an artist. since then he has toured with the likes of les claypool and bernie worrell (keyboards-parliament funkadelic, the talking heads), recorded with world renowned bassist Jonas Hellborg and other GREAT musicians, and he is still making some of the most original and skillful music being recorded today. as a guitarist, there is no one in his generation that even comes close to comparing. hes like steve vai on acid. im going to see him in detroit sep. 29,and dammit i cant wait. one of the true greats, a multi-instrumentalist and musical virtuoso, but because he doesnt tour with a talentless egomaniac like axl rose or have videos on mtv, people have no idea how good he really is and make uninformed comments about him. did you ever think maybe he purposely avoids the media attention and massive popularity, for his own privacy and the integrity of the music he is making? seriously, guns n roses?!?

yes, ive also seen buckethead live, and it was amazing, pretty much the best concert i went to, in technical skills of playing an instrument, emotion shown through music, and the involvement of the audience. and yeah, he actually has released more albums than guns n roses, metallica, and every other major rock/metal band, 44 FULL LENGTH ALBUMS!!!

I wouldn't say he is the greatest guitarist ever, but he's certainly incredibly inventive with his ownunique style. There aren't many great guitarists coming to the fore nowadays but he is definately up there with Steve Vai, Dimebag Darrell (RIP),and that new guitarist from Megadeth. I think maybe he was underused in G'n'R but saying that I've not heard his stuff with them. I forgot to mention Marty Friedman too.
