Robert Goulet, the dashing pop crooner of stage, screen and record, died Tuesday in a Los Angeles hospital, where he was awaiting a lung transplant. The singer and actor was 73 years old. Goulet, born in Massachusetts but raised in Canada, first made his mark on the Broadway stage, starring in the hit musical 'Camelot' in 1960. From there he went on to make his name on record, in fims and especially on TV. His rich baritone voice and tuxedoed persona were ubiquitous on television variety programs throughout the '60s and '70s.
In his later years, Goulet was more than willing to make sport of his reputation as the quintessential Las Vegas performer, sending up his suave image in various movies as well as in a recent commercial for Emerald Nuts. In his career, Goulet has won Emmy, Grammy and Tony awards for his performances.

We keep losing great singers but the music that they left us is still very much alive.
