After numerous snafus during the past few months -- from canceling their headlining Austin City Limits gig and later, their entire fall tour because of Meg's "acute anxiety," to the "Meg White sex tape" debacle, which turned out to be untrue -- the White Stripes are moving forward and pulling the focus back to their Grammy-winning music. The Stripes announced this week on their Web site that they have "recorded three never-before-heard original songs (with a special collaboration)," and hint at a "unique new version" of a track off 2007's 'Icky Thump,' the sixth album from the Detroit rock duo.
But that's not all that prolific singer-songwriter Jack White is up to. He's also working with his side project, the Raconteurs, on the follow-up to their critically lauded 2006 debut, 'Broken Boy Soldiers.' "We have a lot bigger ideas about certain things" the prolific musician told Billboard in April, claiming that their sophomore effort will be "very different" but that "it's coming out great."
The Raconteurs reached a kind of indie rock supergroup-status, boasting additional members including Brendan Benson and the Greenhornes' entire rhythm section of bassist Jack Lawrence and drummer Patrick Keeler.
