Radiohead Signs U.S. Label Deal With ATO Records

Radiohead have signed with ATO Records for the U.S. release of their album 'In Rainbows.' Billboard reports that the band's seventh outing will be in stores on January 2 and released on its own imprint, TBD Records. XL Recordings will release the record in the U.K. two days prior.

Radiohead's split with longtime label Capitol Records sparked fervent speculation about the band's new home. Founded by Dave Matthews and Michael McDonald, ATO emerged triumphant partly due to the staff addition of Phil Costello, Capitol's former senior VP of promotion and marketing.

'In Rainbows,' has been the subject of much music industry buzz since its digital release on Oct. 10. Fans could set their own price for the download, a model that has been implemented before but never by such a prominent artist.

The meaning behind the name TBD Records was explained simply: "We ran into trouble in trying to clear all previously discussed potential label names," a Radiohead representative said about the acronym, which stands for "to be determined."

Radiohead will embark on a world tour in support of 'In Rainbows' beginning next spring.
