PhotoSynthesis: Frank Zappa

Los Angeles, 1971: This was in a rehearsal for the Mothers of Invention -- not the first group but the second incarnation. It was a good rehearsal, because it was like a real band, or more like an orchestra; he was definitely the conductor. It wasn't like a lot of groups that get together and just kind of jam and screw around. These guys were really organized and he was definitely in charge, but he was very good-natured and gentlemanly. A very nice guy.

The Master. As a teenager a friend of mine turned me on to Frank Zappa and I am glad he introduced me to one helluva talented guitar player. Twisted songs and melodic solos...he is missed.
