Regina Spektor Collapses in Nashville
- Posted on Nov 15th 2007 12:00PM by Jessica Robertson
Regina Spektor was rushed to a Nashville hospital Wednesday night after collapsing shortly before her scheduled performance at the Ryman Auditorium. Ryman officials announced nearly ten minutes after the Russian-born singer-songwriter was due to take the stage that Spektor was being held by doctors at a local hospital for observation.
"Last night in Nashville, TN, following her sound check at the Ryman Auditorium, Regina Spektor was taken to a local hospital after collapsing due to a severe inner ear infection which caused a sudden case of vertigo," a statement from Spektor's camp read. "Regina was released late last night and is resting comfortably. Regina is extremely disappointed that she had to cancel on her fans but will return to the Ryman on December 6th, where all tickets will be honored or refunded."
In addition, Spektor postponed her Thursday night concert in Atlanta, until December 5. The rest of her North American jaunt, in support of her latest album, 'Begin to Hope,' will continue as planned, beginning Friday in Norfolk, Virginia.

Okay, Noobies:
Here's the 411. If you have ever lived anywhere else in the country and you have moved to Nashville you have to know that there is a funky mold that floats in the air every morning here in fluffy clouds of misty water. That's what causes inner ear infections and yes, is the source behind the phenomenon we call the smokey mountains. She'll live, so get a life and worry about that mother-in-law you can't stand instead of her. Have a happy Thanksgiving...
Wow,I'm so excited that Regina is touring!!I've loved her since she first made that Zales commercial with a song by Cat Stevens and I bought her first cd.She will be awsome.

Geez folks, next time I need to go the ER I will just list my symptoms here and let ya all diagnose me. Question tho, I am curious who will write the prescription.
I JUST GOT OVER HAVING VERTIGO. DOCTOR GAVE ME MOTION SICKNESS PILLS. AFTER TAKING PILLS I WAS FINE. BEFORE THAT I WAS WALKING INTO WALLS FOR A FEW DAYS. I THOUGHT I HAD A STROKE. I READ THAT ALOT OF PEOPLE WELL GET VERTIGO IN THERE LIFE TIME.
November 17 2007 at 8:42 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAn INNER ear infrction is much more serious than a middle ear infection. The infection usually can't be treated, especially if it's viral. You basically just have to wait it out. Sometimes it can damage the 8th vestibular nerve (which controls balance). If that happens you end up with life long vertigo. There's no cure and the treatments do very little. So,it can be very serious.
I sure hope she gets better soon.
I would like to talk to someone about my symptoms--fluid in the ear, hearing loss, no vertigo, noise in the ear, wasn't ear infection. Possible Meniere's, doctors say.
Had a tube inserted. If anyone wants to talk to me seriously about this, please email me. I don't know anyone with this problem. Or if you know of a website I could go to, please let me know. Thanks, Elaine EGT0219@aol.com
