'Shake Ya Boogie,' by Mocean Worker

If there's one thing you'll take away from this colorful, imaginative Crayola commercial, it's that scissors ain't got nothin' on the company's new Cutter product. Really. Cut during craft time with no ouchies, guaranteed? Check. Fashion a construction-paper bird and watch it fly away? Check. As the ad dictates, the Cutter goes where no scissor has gone before, and guarantees "fun that scissors can't match." Booyah, scissors! Time to 'Boogie.'

Cue Adam Dorn of Mocean Worker, who's urgent, effervescent track, 'Shake Ya Boogie,' provides the soundtrack to the brief but detailed adventure of a little girl, who's dangerously vivid imagination takes her on a safari of sorts -- all because she cuts with the Cutter. "I love kids and toys and grew up using Crayola products," Dorn told Spinner.com. "I got a big kick out of it."

Mocean Worker -- known affectionately as "MoWo" by his fans -- is the jazz/swing/electronic accidental project of Adam Dorn, the son of accomplished jazz and R&B producer Joel Dorn, and protector of the term "DJ." "I'm a musician," the Berklee College of Music-educated New Yorker clarified to Spinner over drinks in October. "DJ Shadow ... Cut Chemist ... They are DJs. They put the D in DJ!" In this case, however, D is for Dorn, who's latest release, hilariously titled 'Cinco de Mowo!' is brimming with swinging, rhythmic tunes that have scored him not only this adorable ad, but more licensing deals, including one for Macy's, who picked up 'Tickle It' for one of its television ads.

For Crayola, however, he was involved from the beginning. "I was contacted to write music for the spot from scratch and for some reason or another I just couldn't find the right spin on it ... I was sort of embarrassed truth be told," he admitted. "So my manager and I came up with the idea to edit 'Boogie' to the spot, just for giggles ... and [the company] flipped." In the end, because of the challenges Dorn faces from not having the "luxury of being able to go to commercial radio" with his music, he says that he's been "very lucky" to be on the receiving end of all the commericial and tv love.
