What's That Song in the Dentyne Ice Commercial?

'Stuttering (Kiss Me Again),' by Ben's Brother

We've received a slew of e-mails about this particular ad. It seems almost everyone is wondering exactly what is that catchy ditty from the Dentyne Ice commercial. The answer is 'Stuttering (Kiss Me Again),' by Ben's Brother, which can be found on the British group's 2007 debut album, 'Beta Male Fairytales.' Frontman Jamie Hartman told Spinner about Dentyne's selection process, specifically how the basic criterion was finding a song with the word "kiss" in the title. The other finalist was another British indie-rock group, Muse, but in the end, the chewing gum purveyors went with the stammering Ben's Brother t-t-t-track.

Hartman, who leads the five-piece ensemble, says the band's unusual moniker was inspired by his big brother -- named Ben, of course. Ben grew up believing he was the "beta male" of the Hartman household, so not only did he inspire the band's name but also the title for his little brother's debut album. Jamie Hartman wrote 'Stuttering' in less than an hour's time, he says, elaborating that "it was about remembering the first time I really felt self-conscious in front of someone I wanted to be with and couldn't speak properly." He had never intended for the song to be in a commercial -- in fact, he told Spinner that it barely made the album -- but he commends the advertising campaign for promoting 'Stuttering' as well as "fresh breath while kissing."
