Dresden Dolls Reignite on the Road

Following their stint on last summer's True Colors tour with Cyndi Lauper and Deborah Harry, not much has been heard from Boston's Dresden Dolls. The duo took a bit of a break, during which time singer/pianist Amanda Palmer worked on her forthcoming solo album. "It's not too far off the mark to say we needed to find ourselves," Palmer tells Spinner. After six years without a vacation day, she says, "it was just getting extraordinarily unhealthy."

Feeling recharged after the time off -- and missing playing music together -- the Dresden Dolls will return to touring with a 14-date winter jaunt, including a New Year's Eve show in New York City. "We're doing this tour because we want to stoke the fires of the band and make sure that people know we're still out there," Palmer says. "It's sort of like stopping by a friend's house and saying hello."
