Breeders Moving 'Mountains' on New Album
Shortly after Pixies' joyously-received reunion tour wrapped up in 2005, bassist Kim Deal went back to Ohio to begin writing songs for the follow-up to the Breeders' 2002 release, ' Title TK.' The fruit of her labor in the Midwest, 'Mountain Battles,' is the fourth studio album from the band, which also includes Deal's twin sister Kelley, and will mark the third time the band has worked with famed producer Steve Albini, who worked on both the debut album 'Pod' and 'Title TK.' "The new Breeders record is scheduled to be released in April 2008," Deal said. "There are 13 songs. Mando Lopez is still on bass, Jose Medeles on drums, Kelley Deal, my evil twin, on guitar and vocals."
Perhaps even more exciting than the Spring release, however, is that the band is ready for road. In fact, Kim and Kelley made their return last night at 'The Second City That Never Sleeps: Letters to Santa' charity event in Chicago, performing along with Wilco's Jeff Tweedy, the Blisters and more.
Full American and European tours will follow in 2008. In the meantime, check out the 'Mountain Battles' track list here and new song, 'We're Gonna Rise,' here.
