Indie rock is dying... and it's not so bad that everyone else has jumped on the indie bandwagon and that the demographic at shows has changed(other than the annoying jocks who yell out the sort of lame comments which the absence of has made past indie rock life so enjoyable).
What sucks is that Band of Horses are going out of the way to drop the name "indie." They are one of my favorite bands but this is a let down. Isn't anything?

It's okay for Bridwell to feel this way, but bands that go around touting this as their mantra, selling out to make cash, usually have a short run of things. Yes the business has changed and nobody will condemn you for trying to pay the bills, but you're still a crappy indie band and should consider yourself that. When Band of Horses starts confusing itself with Avril Lavigne they wont have to worry about anyone endorsing their busses or dads getting drunk at their shows, they'll be indie all right. Its about the music Ben, and having something to say that is relevant in our lives, well with reverb-dripping guitars.
