It only seems as though Willie Nelson has been writing and performing the great American song since old St. Nick was a real-life bishop in fourth century Byzantium. Young Willie was still considered an apprentice song peddler when Roy Orbison rode this song of his all the way up to Number 15 on the pop charts. The white beard came later.

While Pretty Paper is a great song, his rendition of Deck the Halls has to be one of the worst.

No one could sing "Pretty Paper" like Roy Orbison, just as no one could sing "Crazy" like Patsy Cline. Just because you wrote a song doesn't mean you can sing it best. Don't get me wrong...Willie can belt out a good one too.

the R.C.A. recording of this song is the definitive version recorded in 1966 it is better then the Roy Orbison versionand I use this when I d.j. at this time of year

the original rca recording from 1966 is Willies best version and in my opinion better than Roy Orbisons evedently the people wrighting this don't know anything about music like the radio program directors and the radio consultants satelite radio is now ruined because of the merger
