Beats me why any of that weird (read "c--p") got on the list. And why did aol call it a list of "carols". Carols are "Oh, Holy Night", and "Silent Night"; songs are "I'll be Home for Christmas" and "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer". Don't any of these "music experts" have any historic perspective? I doubt that the creator of that list would know Bach from Lennon (if he/she was even old enough to be familiar with Lennon).

oh, so the ramone's merry christmas (i don't wanna fight) is complete nonsense, but 'i want an alien for christmas' is a holiday classic? fountains of wayne is one of these groups that people with no actual sense of taste in music like to say they listen to because it makes them sound like they know something special (see also: coldplay). i can't say anything about this song because like about 99% of everyone else on this board, i've never heard it.

"Alien" is a great little tune by an outstanding band that celebrates powerpop music. The song was never in wide release but can be found on Fountains of Wayne's "Out of State Plates" album. You might also be familiar with their "Winter Valley Song" being used on a current Land's End TV ad. BTW, I know a great deal about music and have loved this band from the start. Please don't group me in with the Coldplay crowd.
