12 Best Christmas Songs: No. 9

'Christmas Is the Time to Say I Love You'
    --Billy Squier (1981)

Billy was supposed to be the one-man reincarnation of Zeppelin, but he took some bad fashion advice and became an early MTV casualty. There's a rollicking N'Awlins flair at the heart of this big-beat, unabashedly corny sing-along that gives it a certain timelessness, even as it takes its rightful place on VH1's "Big '80s" Christmas comp.

actualy this was an ok song those of us lucky enough to have the 45 have the flip side his version of "White Christmas" which is the only version I have heard played on the kazoo and they are off key and are not singing together it sounds like they were at a bar at closing time

I L O V E this song! It always lifts my holiday spirits to another level. I remember the MTV Christmas Party that was televised and the song was played by Billy Squire. It just moves me.

???? I remember when the radio stations played this song when it first was released...and now I never hear it. I don't care for it, and it's not one of the best, either.
