12 Worst Christmas Songs: No. 1

    'Do They Know It's Christmas'
    --Band Aid (1984)

File this, charitably, under Good Intentions. The cream of the U.K. pop crop -- including Bob Geldof and the guy from Spandau Ballet -- banged this out in one 24-hour session. Unfortunately, despite the heroic tub-thumping of Phil Collins, it sounds like it. And -- with lyrics like "Tonight thank God it's them, instead of you" -- you can't exactly take it out caroling.

I DO NOT agree with this survey, even thought I'm only 14.....some of these songs I don't even know but some of them around #10 or so are pretty decent songs!!! I used to love some of these songs a couple years ago!!

Christmas music sucks anyway, but I know I've heard songs that are more annoying than a lot of these. Besides, someone who's too stupid to understand the Ramones' twisted sense of humor can't know much about music anyway.

This is not Malcolm X's birthday. It is the birth of Jesus Christ and therefore, is spelled CHRISTMAS not

    1. xtian
    meaning christian
the x comes from latin and is the latin letter for christ, i.e. x-tian means christ-tian or christian
    also xmas meaning christ-mas.

    Patric,
Naming the holiday X-Mas has nothing to do with Malcolm X. As you can see, X-mas or X-tian was what the early christians were named. Might want to do some research before showing how little you really know.

All of you who complained that "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" isn't on the list need to go back and read the intro. These are NON-NOVELTY Christmas songs. "Grandma..." is a novelty song.

That's the worst insult of them all! This song reminds us that we need to feed the starving of the world-not only in Africa, but in our hometowns, too. Did you know that, in Downtown Crossing in Boston, where my business is located, there are dozens of homeless people on the street? Calling this the worst Christmas song ever is your way of saying "Bah, Humbug!" This song rules!!

i agree for the most part on all of the above. novelty christmas songs are just that , novelty. i am sure africans dont know its christmas time. charity starts at home, and a bunch of singing druggies with money got nards asking us to send ours to people who would just as soon eat us as look at us. if you want to feed the africans, go catch all the geese, pigeons and rats that plague the USA, send them to the africans to eat. Then if they still need money, let Bono and Geldoff share theres.

Take off Wonderfull Christmastime and replace them with that Italian Christmas Donkey song. Every copy of that song should be burned.

Who made this list up? It's HORRIBLE! Do They Know It's Christmas is one of the best songs-it's about giving, which is what the Christmas season should be all about. The absolute WORST Christmas song EVER is Stevie Nicks' version of Silent Night. YUKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

I like "Do they know its Christmas". Just since Christmas is supposed to be a happy time doesn't mean we should hate every depressing Christmas song out there. Sometimes its good to be humble, sometimes its good to be able to cry even during the so called happy holidays. However its not good to keep emotions bottled up inside.

One of THE worst ever Christmas songs has to be Christmas in San Francisco sung by Vic Damone. With Lyrics like:
Let's take a peek in Chinatown
Eating lychee nuts and barbecued boar
What can you say about the Golden Gate
    That hasn't been said before
    like,
, well that just says Christmas all over doesn't it? It almost makes Paul McCartney's song sound Wonderful. All in all this list is feeble at best and the depth of it it reflects the fact that the people who put it together can't be over 30
