12 Worst Christmas Songs: No. 8

'Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town'
    --Bruce Springsteen (1981)

Even though he's darn near as sainted as St. Nick himself, Bruce is capable of laying the occasional lump of coal. We've got no beef with rollicking through this sloppy number live, but do radio stations really have to play it 5,000 times every December? And, yeah, we get it ... Clarence wants a new sax.

I really like this song, and enjoy hearing it during the holiday season. Of all the bad Christmas songs out there, I'm surprised to see this one on your list!

This is a great tune, the Spinner Staff are a bunch of recent college grads who are too young to appreciate good music.

If Internet Critics were rated: AOL would be number 1.
If Internet Writers were rated: AOL would be number 1.
Who do you get to critique/write your articles?
I can't even imagine it would be a 5th grader because it would be giving AOL too much credit!

I am by no means a huge Springsteen fan...his politics and just endless ramblings about how we need to do this and we need to do that is over the top at his shows...more than U2...but this song is a true classic and is far from the worst. Not even close...I love this version and have fond memories of it as a child even back to the very early 1980s around 81-82 on Christmas morning hearing it on my radio shack headphones.

This song is a Christmas classic and has just as much right to get played into the ground as Little Drummer Boy and I Saw mommy Kissing Santa. If you don't like replays turn off the radio!!

Playing live is way different than a gazillion track studio with digital enhancement. I like the raw output. Its over played because of who sings it and it starts with someone shaking sleigh bells.

ow many times do you hear Bing and White Christmas? UGH

Up here in New Jersey only one thing is set in stone, and that is that, well Bruce is, and forever will be, the boss. Santa Claus is Comin' to Town is amazing. I would advise you that if you ever come to New Jersey to never speak the words Bruce and overplayed in the same sentence!! Going to one of Bruce's live concerts is absolutely one of the best experiences with music tha a person could have. Bruce is possibly the best lyricist and live performer to ever live! And if someone started laughing at you like santa clause, while you were trying to work with them, you'd proabably crack a smile too. I guess you gotta like Springsteen to get it.
