Singers forget lyrics all the time, but preferably not in front of the President. During a Kennedy Center tribute to Dolly Parton, Jessica Simpson (left) abruptly stopped in the middle '9 to 5.' "Dolly, that made me so nervous," she blurted before running offstage. Some 45 years earlier, Ella Fitzgerald blanked on 'Mack the Knife': "Oh, what's the next chorus/To this song now?," she sang. Ella laughed it off, and it won her a Grammy.

Ya uh Chandra...that was called a joke...cause she was singing in front of the President..and Happy Birthday Mister President is very easy to remember...and it was followed by LOL (Lots of Laughs...as in sarcasm) lighten up them tight britches!!

That's not how I remember this going down. Jessica didn't just run off stage, she tried to sing it again, and when that didn't work she gave up, until the next day when she tried to reshoot the performance, only to fail again. And there were far more problems than just the lyrics from what I heard. Not to knock Jessica, she's cute, but singing Dolly or country songs isn't one of her bright spots if you want my opinion.

So both Simpson sisters have had lyrical issues while onstage: Jessica forgetting hers and Ashlee "singing" the wrong song. That whole family needs a Phillips screwdriver to fix the screw that has come loose in the back of their heads.

Atleast she was actually singing. Her sister uses a backtrack and blamed her band when the soundman played the wrong vocal track. Forgetting Lyrics, or losing your place in a song and singing the wrong line, happens alot. Even if she was singing Happy bday.. I doubt the prez would notice the mistake.. the man says "nuculer" for nuclear.. and strategery>>>WTF is strategery>?

How in the hell could any one in their right mind compare this Kid in any form with the great And incomparable Ella Fitzgerald? This great performer(Ella)had proven herself way before this slight mishap and was able to recover beautifully and make the best of the situation because of her superb musical experience and talent. Undoubtedly this less expienced (performer)could learn a few lessons from this great legend.

She was singing 9 to 5, NOT Happy Birthday.It was Marilyn Monroe who sang Happy Birthday to the president. I'm not really surprised she forgot the words, after all she is a dumb blonde.

She did the national anthem show at the Superdome a few years ago and comletely flubbed the words.I like her, but it's prolly a good thing for her that she isn't her own business manager.
