Singers forget lyrics all the time, but preferably not in front of the President. During a Kennedy Center tribute to Dolly Parton, Jessica Simpson (left) abruptly stopped in the middle '9 to 5.' "Dolly, that made me so nervous," she blurted before running offstage. Some 45 years earlier, Ella Fitzgerald blanked on 'Mack the Knife': "Oh, what's the next chorus/To this song now?," she sang. Ella laughed it off, and it won her a Grammy.

I am still shocked that she is as popular as she is...she the most terrible singer I have ever heard! She is sooo not talented except for putting on the "pretty" face and she is not even that pretty! Jessica should just get out of the business she is such an injustice to real singers!

Ok I am disturbed by the comparison between Ella Fitzgerald and J. Simpson. Ella was a master singer and incredibly classy lady whom no singer today can touch. I am also disturbed by the fact that J.S. got flustered and fled the stage when she messed up. But I know that she is also human as I am. A professional singer myself, I understand, but she did handle it wrongly. She should have done like I do when I occasionally mess up: make up some words that fit the melody and carry on as if nothing ever happened. Because most of the audience doesn't notice a mess-up unless your facial or body language betray you. And anyway, the bottom line of show business is this: The Show Must Go On!! It's not surprising that she might forget the lyrics. Singing in front of and for a war criminal might just be a little intimidating.

Why in the hell would she want to perform for this crook, anyway? Oh yeah, she's not too bright. That makes sense.
