7. Everybody Nose

The spread for the Band's 1976 farewell concert was a who's who of guests (Dylan, Clapton, Neil Diamond), a feast for performers and audience alike, and, by all accounts, a schmorgasbord of illicit substances. During Neil Young's appearance, the oblivious singer had a gob of cocaine clearly lodged in a nostril. Robbie Robertson and Martin Scorsese later had to edit the residue out of their concert film.

i would not think of neal young as a coke head..drunk maybe..rick danko was beyon high all the way throught the last waltz...but even if neal was high, so the hell what, it was a awesome unforgettable concert from th 70's...what rock an roll artist wasn't high back ..."such a shock"

Wow!! A talented musician from the 70's does cocaine!! OMG!!! What were most of his contemporaries doing at the time? Drinking tea and eating crumpets! Hurry, call the baby boomer cops and arrest this man!! Newsflash, most of record industry gave them the dope anyway. He is still a fantastic musician.

The 1970s were a decade of decadence. Hardly any musician was clean and/or sober (and I know several who were fairly well-known back then; they've described everything in gory detail to me). Neil screwed up but, to my knowledge, he doesn't screw up anymore -- and he still remains one of the best and most relevant rockers to this day. In other words, he is amazing.

Anyone that old who and is {still} snorting that stuff has a Death Wish! Called old blood vessels and hypertension. If he keeps that up he'll go out in blaze of cerebral hemmorhage or heart attack....it won't be painless either.
