As rock star beards go, we always thought that gal who married Elton John back in the dark ages would reign supreme atop the list in perpetuity, but she's finally been dislodged -- at least in the minds of the Brits who just rabbed Robert Plant's chin-warmer as the best beard in rock 'n' roll.

The Beard Liberation Front -- an organization that undoubtedly has one of the coolest secret handshakes extant -- chose the hirsute howler as its unshorn uberlord after much deliberation, choosing him over a handful of Brit athletes and estimably furry billionaire Richard Branson. While we'd never deny any sort of honor to a man capable of making red snapper seem erotic, we'd have to consign him to an honorable mention in this category and give our vote to bearded lady Jennifer Miller, who's clearly done more than simply flick away her Bic to take the title.
