Who the heck ARE these supposed "Starlets" and "Celebrities?" I only hear/read about them when they get knocked up!

Ok, I kind of take offense to what she says...she's pretty much saying that all 22 year olds are too young to get pregnant, that we aren't good role models. Well that's all on an individual basis if you ask me. As long as you're truly emotionally and financially ready for a baby, there's no problem with it. I just turned 23 in December and had a beautiful baby boy in October. He was planned. I have a wonderful husband and am a registered nurse. I am at a great place in life. I would consider myself a role model for other girls my age...as long as you're sure you're ready for the responsibility, are in love, and are financially stable, there is absolutely nothing wrong with bringing a beautiful baby into this world.

Another example of the quality results that come from public school based sex education. OOPS!

These comments about the sex ed are priceless. Sex education should come from the home regardless of whether your children attend public school or private school or whether they are home schooled or cyber schooled.

To ???:
Do you know Lily Allen's music? Her music is intelligent and edgy, and I really think you may be taking her comments way too personally. As an artist, Lily doesn't shy away from that which offends. I think this comment demonstrates in a celebrity a delightful and much needed ability to reflect critically and make sound decisions. Committed to not only accepting, but also celebrating her own flaws, Lily demonstrated courage in admitting that some other young mother might be a better fit for this role.
Congratulations Lily!

She didn't mean she wasn't a good role model because she was "too young". She meant she wasn't the best example because she was too young and NOT MARRIED. So Jamie you can be unoffended now! It's pathetic how the media keeps these "poor examples" in the spolight!

Don't ruin your life with an an illegitimate baby. Put the kid up for adoption and get on with your life.

Well, then, since 22 is too young to have a child (?), perhaps she should have an abortion or 5, wait until she is 48, and go in debt having 200 thousand dollars worth of fertility treatments and if she is lucky, give birth to triplets with cerebral palsy or Down's Syndrome, like so many moms today. Wonder where the idea of 22 being too young to have a child ever got started? Must have been by the greedy fertility doctors..........

Get a life Kate... Just because a parent isn't married, doesn't mean a child can't be loved and taken care of. I had a child at 22 unmarried he is 15 and doing well, I also ended up unmarried at 33 having his sister who will be 5 in March and she is doing well even though she is Autistic but high functioning.
Both pregnancies were a result of each father one night taking the condom off in the middle of the act,10 1/2 years apart and I had severe hyperemesis of pregnancy with both kids and now I have severe neuropathy and neurological problems, but I am not complaining I have the best kids in the world.
All kids are legitimate and marital status does not necessarily equate parental fitness. Sheesh.. Lisa in MN

Whether or not someone received school-based sex education is not the point. Placing all of the burdon of sex education on parents simply means that some children simply won't learn anything and will be unprepared to make educated choices.
This doesn't mean that parents shouldn't be involved. Families are an important element in developing moral values. I know some schools (particularly religious-based schools) attempt to set a moral framework, but we mostly develop our presonal ethic as an reflection or reaction to what we experience at home.
So, its both.

Is it just me, or does it seem like all these young female entertainers are jumping on the preggos wagon?
jenat 1-06-2008
if you read the whole article, she doesn't say its wrong to be preg. at 22, she says "she"is a little young, but also she states that her audience is young and she doesn't feel that a maternity line is appropriate.

I, too, was young having my babies, but I didn't live in Hollyweird or anywhere like that... I had a stable family with morals and values that I have passed on my three sons.
I was 22 when my son was born and I'd never change a thing.
and whoever said who are these people and we never hear about them unless they're knocked up... no kidding!! who are they and better still, who cares!! lol

Maybe she wanted it Doggy style?
Rebeccaat 1-06-2008
Well at least she is 22 and NOT 16. Still I don't get it. Why the hell are these young successful women getting themselves prego?! The excuse of not knowing about birth control went out the window a gazzillion years ago.
