Seriously: Did any girl ever push Mick Jagger around? Hard to reckon, but if there's truth in these lyrics, at least one did – until Jagger turned the tables. Now she's either a contradictory "squirmin' dog" or a "Siamese cat of a girl." Either way, safe to assume this is not a big chart-topper on Gloria Steinem's iPod.

Marianne Faithful is the girl. She wanted Brian Jones, the cute one. She thought that Jagger was ugly, but she wanted a rock star boyfriend and took second best. But once she was hooked on heroin, she became dependant on Jagger, thus the tables were turned. When she tried to kill herself, Mick felt responsible and that's when "Wild Horses" was written. Or, at least, that's the way I heard it.
