Beyonce To Play Legendary Singer in Film + More

I agree with almost everyone on here. Yes Beyonce can sing and she can really dance, but acting is not her forte. When she sings in a movie it is great, but when it comes time to act it all out (without singing), she flops big time. I think she should just keep singing and dancing, and leave the acting to someone else.

ok...technically Whoppi did win that Grammy, but for a comedic performance recording. You're right, but you obviously missed my point. My point was we shouldn't exploit flaws in celebrities, especially ones that don't deserve it. Brittany Spears I don't care, she brings it on herself. But Beyonce is trying to be the best she can be, live a good life and follow her passions and people just keep wanting to knock her down...I don't get it...that is what "hating" is!

She has been in award winning movies because she has talent. If she was TERRIBLE (bad word choice JB) she would not have been casted in so many movies! That's the film industry!

Um, Beyonce is a fabulous singer...however to play Etta James would be ridiculous...Etta was a big girl. She wasn't a twig like Beyonce. Maybe they should find a big black girl who can sing to play Etta. Etta was also fabulous!

I just wanted to correct Darren's comment that if Beyonce wins an Oscar, Grammy, and Tony that she would be the first African-American to do so. But it has already been accomplished by Whoppi Goldberg who has won an Oscar(Ghost),Grammy(Direct from Broadway), Tony(Thoroughly Modern Mille), and an Emmy. I think its great to encourage Beyonce to continue on her path of success, but it is unfair for her to try and claim a monumentous achievement that has already been achieved. People should give Whoopi more credit because she has done amazing things in Hollywood.

Beyonce has got exactly what takes to become a good actress...determination. She is fairly young and has a lot of growing to do. Acting is not as natural to her for some people (i.e. Jennifer Hudson) because she is genuine and reserved. However, her stage performance character is a completely invigorating role. Sasha is the character that you see when Beyonce is performing in concerts and live performances; it's her alternate ego. All she has to do is mentally fake the same concert environment while in front of the camera, director, producers etc. But to say she should she should "leave Etta James role to someone else" is completely unfair. Her number one goal is to be the first black woman to receive an Oscar, Tony Award, and a Grammy, which remains undone. She is the only black actress/singer out that I could envision achieving that! If she works as hard as she is, become more vulnerable, and take some serious acting classes (with her money, I'm sure she is) she can do this. Who knows maybe she is going to surprise the hell out of people!

I'm very proud of Beyonce for her achievements in Hollywood and Music. She is a beautiful act to follow. Hollywood, however, can display her talents in the wrong settings. The most imperative dynamics of choosing a role is to choose life and not death, both in reality and on the stage. Beyonce should be careful and all of the actresses and actors in hollywood. We all have seen some of them play on stage and end up in real-life dealing with the demons that follow these characters. think about it.

The scarry part of playing a role is that art can imitate life. Please Beyonce be careful whatever role you choose and don't settle for just anything offered to you. At the proper time, God will send you something that can make your passions to become a gifted actress more honorable.

Wow, there are a lot of haters out there. Beyonce is a great actress and not because of her singing. That girl as a lot of talent that God has given her and I am glad that she is using those gifts. Keep doing what you are doing and let those haters hate. They just dont have annything better else to do...lol...Peace

Beyonce, has alot to learn in acting, she just does'nt have what it takes I'm not saying she never will, it's just no real genuine emotion too blah.

Well I don't think that she is taking this role to "Out shine" Jennifer Hudson, I actually believe that Beyonce did a great job at giving Jennifer Hudson the spotlight. But, she says that she likes to stay with musicals because it is in her element, and I think that is good. Big ups to her! But I would like to see her take a non musical role, and I would also like to see them give her more lines, lol.

I think Beyonce is probably anxious to take this role because Jennifer Hudson outshined her as an actress and a singer in Dream Girls. Quite frankly I like Beyonce but she should stick to what she is good at(pop,r&b) and leave the power vocals and acting to others.
