Good Night, Don't Let the Beatles Bite

Want to have a bed-in with the Beatles? The John Lennon suite in the new Hard Days Night Hotel, a moptop-themed accommodation opening this week in Liverpool, features a white baby grand piano. The Paul McCartney suite features a suit of armor, celebrating Sir Paul's knighthood. For 650 pounds a night to stay in the suites, you should be sleeping like a log. Sadly, according to one British reporter who got a sneak preview, the unfortunate chintz of the place may give visitors not-so-golden slumbers. The 110-room, four-star hotel, situated near the rebuilt Cavern Club, where the local lads got their feet wet, does have some nice touches, says The Times. There's a rare Yellow Submarine jukebox in the lobby and a restaurant called Blakes, named for Sir Peter Blake, the artist who designed the 'Sgt. Pepper' album cover with his then-wife, Jann Haworth.
But it also has a "claustrophobic" wedding chapel called Two of Us – "an airless mirrored room accessed only by a highly impractical spiral staircase," the paper says – and a basement-level, guru-themed hideaway called Hari's Bar, "decked out with the sort of artifacts commonly found at kitsch spas."
That settles it. We'll wait for the grand opening of the She Came in Through the Bathroom Window Travelodge.
