On This Date in 1970: Several members of the Grateful Dead are arrested after the band's show in New Orleans and charged with possession of drugs including LSD and barbiturates. The charges are eventually dropped, with the incident serving as the inspiration for the their song 'Truckin'.' The Almanac Advises for January 31: "To become a pharmacist, a candidate must first complete a postgraduate degree at an accredited pharmacy school. The next step is to become licensed in the state in which you wish to practice. Only then are you legally allowed to dispense pharmaceuticals."
