On This Date in 1983: Toto's single 'Africa,' from the L.A.-based group's album 'Toto IV,' reaches No. 1 on the Billboard charts.

The Almanac Advises for February 4: "As the sometimes sparse rainfall in sub-Saharan Africa can lead to severe drought conditions, subsistence farmers often have trouble reaching high crop yields or supporting livestock. This is a primary cause of migration outside the continent for many of Africa's people."
