After catching wind that Republican presidential hopeful John McCain had John Mellencamp's 'Our Country' on heavy rotation in his personal campaign song mix, Mellencamp, who was supporting Democrat John Edwards before he dropped out of the race, sent him a strongly worded letter to rethink his "logic." Needless to say, McCain has since stopped using the song.
Republican candidate Mitt Romney, who was known more for his good looks (Letterman said he "looks like a guy wearing a golf shirt in an Eddie Bauer catalogue") and unusual name than for his politics, dropped out of the race.
