Beck Admits to Lyrical Nonsense

It started with the re-release of Beck's 1996 album, 'Odelay,' re-titled 'Odelay Deluxe,' to sound worthy of the 19 outtakes, remixes and B-sides it boasts. The singer was forced to apologize when the first pressing went un-proofed, and included inaccurate lyrics from one of the innumerable, completely bogus lyrics Websites out there.

Next, the singer revealed that some of his lyrics are total nonsense. 'The New Pollution'? 'Devil's Haircut'? "Most of the vocals on the record were scratch vocals," he told Rolling Stone. "We just grew attached to them."

We know the feeling. One of the prolific singer's most puzzling lyrics made it onto Spinner's list of the 25 Best Opening Lyrics.
